| Job description | : Requirements: Senior Sybase Database Resident Engineer: · Sybase / SQL Server Database Administration · Manage enterprise RDBMs across multiple platforms and environments – Sybase running on Solaris · Install and Configure Database instances · Restore development / test environments as per application group requirements · Manage & report on capacity planning on all databases / database machines · Administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database · Configure and maintain database log shipping / mirroring / replication · Strong experience on database security features · Assist in performance tuning - Sybase / SQL Server queries and business application queries · Participate in design & configuration of database systems · Create / enhance and maintain documentation · Provide assistance for auditing · Administer procedures for backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and performance analysis and database tuning · Coordinate the installation of systems · Determine and resolve problems in support of production databases · Provide training and technical assistance to more junior staff · Lead others to solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions Qualifications · SAP Certification · Strong Knowledge of Sybase (SAP ASE 15/16)/ SQL Server · At least 8 years of experience in Sybase and SQL Server · Strong Knowledge of Sybase / SQL Server Replication - related to implementing and monitoring data replication between heterogeneous platforms · Knowledge of Solaris · Knowledge of database connectivity - JDBC, ODBC, CLI · Hardware knowledge a plus Scope of Work Following are the tasks to be performed: Maintain the health of Sybase Databases Ensure that solution is configuring Industry’s best practice methodology. Train Samba nominated resources to fully operate the solution post implementation. Documentation of implementation and configuration. |
