Job description : Role will fully support daily marine activities, providing technical advice and support in all marine operational matters. The role will provide experience and expertise to support marine self-verification (inspection) activities encompassing all marine assets operated or chartered by the client, thereby ensuring safe and compliant operations. Ensure compliance with all HSSE expectations and actively participate in all safety programs. Work closely with the MQA function to develop marine procedures, systems, and processes to drive safe and compliant marine operations for the client. Provide mentor support and coaching to other MQA function members in all technical matters associated with marine operations and personnel development. Support the development and implementation of systems to deliver safe and compliant marine operations at sites across client spheres of operation. Support the identification and management of risk associated with marine operations, always striving to embrace continuous improvement to minimise operational risk to the client. Advises client on marine systems related issues. Guide evaluation of relative measures of merit against specifications for competing for ship-board systems and technologies and guides others in their selection. Evaluate new and existing rules, and effectively interfaces with industry forums and trade groups on improvements/revision to existing regulations, standards, and guidance. Anticipates technology needs and opportunities in marine systems, and initiates actions to develop/qualify and deploy technology in a timely manner. Participate/lead failure investigations or contractor claims. Leads troubleshooting and recovery of marine system failures. Ensure both assets and vessels comply with local, national, and International maritime legislation inclusive of Classification Society and Flag State requirements. Responsible for facilitating both internal and external audits and agreeing any resulting actions and applicable closure dates. Establish and maintain effective relationships with others ensuring effective collaboration with the various Technical Authorities (Marine, Engineering, Floating Structure, Floating Systems etc) HSSE Teams based within the client. Assist in the preparation of policy and procedural documents as directed and agreed. You may be asked from time to time be asked to undertake other tasks that are considered to be relevant to your position. Qualifications Class 2 Marine Engineers Certificate of Competency (Motor) or Marine degree-based qualification together with extensive industry experience as Naval architect / Classification surveyor etc. Lead Auditor Advanced dangerous cargo endorsement (Oil or Chemical or Gas) Desired Candidate Profile Class 1 Marine Engineers Certificate of Competency (Motor / Steam) Multiple advanced dangerous cargo endorsements Experience Experience as 2nd Engineer on board oil, gas, chemical tankers, or DP offshore vessel for >2yrs or Marine degree-based qualification together with extensive industry experience as Naval architect / Classification surveyor etc Experience in developing DP FMEAs, conducting proving trials and provision of DP assurance. Experience as Marine Warranty Surveyor Experience Chief Engineer board oil, gas, chemical tankers or DP offshore vessel Developing and presenting reports to senior management. Floating platform OIM.
