Job description : Position : Manager - Legal The position is based at Nhava Sheva, Uran. Company have Air-conditioned buses operating from all major routes in Navi Mumbai. The position shall be responsible to manage ongoing litigations of the company against third parties. ➢ This position provides support to the Head - Legal & Company Secretary ➢ The position is also responsible for providing Legal assistance to the Company in a manner that secures the Company’s interests and avoids further litigation. ➢ The position is also responsible for liaison with various stakeholders both internal and external including Govt. agencies, legal advisers, etc. on issues relating to the legal / compliance related affairs of the Company. ➢ The position will be responsible to take over day-to-day / routine activities from the Company Secretary and handle them independently. Drafting & checking standard legal documents such as petitions, claims, replies to petitions, powers of attorney, agreements, communications, etc. ➢ Verification / proof reading of various documents such as submissions to statutory / semigovernment bodies. ➢ Arranging signatures for closings / coordination of documents required. ➢ To keep company indemnified from acts, costs & consequences arising out of legal disputes by observing govt. & Port Rules. ➢ To maintain proper record of all agreements and maintaining an effective MIS of all important documents such as Licenses, Permits, Permissions, etc. ➢ Translating / coordinating translation of all legal documents/notices where required. ➢ Undertake research into case law to determine best course of action on legal issues. ➢ Maintaining & developing local contacts with specialist legal firms on all issues. REPORTING AND SCOPE (IPE Factor: Knowledge-Teams & Breadth) ➢ Direct Reports: None. ➢ The position reports directly to the Head (Legal) & Company Secretary ➢ The scope of the position is domestic WORK/BUSINESS CONTACTS AND AUTHORITY (IPE Factor: Communication) ➢ Internal Staff at various departments who require follow up regarding legal issues The nature of contact is shared as it primarily relates to information ➢ External Legal advisors External regulatory bodies External consultants & contractors The nature of contact will be shared CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE (IPE Factor: Knowledge) ➢ Accredited legal qualification with about 5 years’ experience in handling legal documentation preferably in the port / logistics sector. ➢ Knowledge of Secretarial (compliance to Companies Act, 2013) function is not mandatory but will be an added advantage. ➢ Should be a fast learner. ➢ Familiarization with local civil, criminal, commercial, real estate, torts, labour laws & practices. ➢ Incumbent must have a very high level of analytical skills & must have complete IT skills as required in an office environment. ➢ Knowledge of local language will be an added advantage. ➢ Must be able to evaluate solutions for both long and short-term benefit. ➢ Exhibits sound judgment. Measures results and takes corrective action when needed. ➢ Exhibit effective negotiation skills.
